Hilton A Dump?
Posted by hiltononline.org.uk on 01st November 2007. Do you want a waste management site in Hilton?
Derbyshire County Council has earmarked land at Hilton Business Park, off the Mease as a potential waste management site. If it is allocated as such, one of a range of waste processing centres could be established there – with associated noise, odours, visual impact and traffic increases. A flood risk for the proposed site has been identified – added to which it would be next to an important nature site and our new football facility, with associated impacts on both. None of the other proposed sites in the District is anywhere near as close to established housing and we should not have to put up with this.
The proposed site on the Severn Trent landholding at Etwall/Egginton would also impact on our village, being visible from houses in the Lucas Lane and Normandy Road areas. Waste will be dumped up to a height of 8 metres – and there is the possibility of an incinerator on the site operational 24 hours of the day.
