Hilton Harriers Develop Further
Posted by Hilton Harriers FC on 03rd June 2008. For the first time since their formation 16 years ago Hilton Harriers FC will be fielding an adult team next season. The team will be playing on Saturday afternoons in the Midlands Regional Alliance League Division 2, with home games being played at the new Hilton Pavilion. Club Chairman Andrew Brooks said ‘Developing an adult team has been a key part of our strategy for several years but we need the time to be right. Our new ground and clubhouse facility is now complete and we’re looking to take the club forward. Previously our players would reach 18, having spent many years playing for Hilton Harriers and then have to leave to find a senior club, now they will have the opportunity to stay with us’.
Colin Dawson will manage the new team and they are looking for additional players to strengthen their existing squad. Anyone interested can attend a trial on Wednesday 18th June at 6.30 at the Hilton Pavilion. If your interested but this date isn’t convenient contact Mr Dawson on 07931 452386 to make alternative arrangements.
Hilton Harriers have come a long way since the first side took to the pitch in 1992. Next season Harriers they will be running 18 teams in local leagues and a thriving Saturday Club for children from 5 to 7 years old. Harriers are looking for players at most age levels so if your interested you will find contact details on the website www.hiltonharriers.org.uk or you can contact the Club Secretary on 01283 733396.
What about the future? ‘To fulfil our portfolio we would like a ladies team, so we can keep our girls teams together beyond 16. We haven’t set a time frame for this but if anyone is interested they should contact us’ said Andrew Brooks
